Jacquard

Jacquard weave is created through loom process which is programmed in such a way to raise each warp thread independently of other threads. Jacquard fabric has an intricately woven pattern. This pattern is directly woven onto the fabric. This fabric is more stable and stretchy as compared to other fabrics. Jacquard weaves are produced on a special loom that is characterized by complex designs that are woven in with repetition of designs or tapestry effects. It is so versatile that this fabric can be used in almost everything. Jacquard weave can be easily blended with any fabric- silk, jute, cotton etc. It is interwoven in such a way that it adds details to the surface of the fabric, keeping it light in weight yet textured.

Jacquard Fabric

This jacquard weave process is more time consuming than other fabrics created from the same method. Jacquard weaves can also be combined with various colors and different types of threads. This enables beautiful gradations of color tones and bold patterns that are generally complex.  These fabrics are rare and more durable. Moreover, jacquard loom fabric has a smooth texture, as the pattern is within the fabric and not over it. It can be widely used for clothing, upholstery, draperies etc. In terms of design, jacquard has a lot in store. Design that is woven into the fabric forms a slightly raised decorative area. It is easy to wear and is wrinkle resistant and pleasant to touch.

Jacquard Fabric collection

Jacquard fabric is filled with decorative aesthetics. There are two main reasons because of which it stands apart from other woven fabrics. First, is the complexity of design. Jacquard loom saves the labor and time. Second, the number of colors used. Modern technologies have made it possible to produce sophisticated designs in a large color palette. Almost all designs can be made in a dozen of colors. Jacquard loom produces several other delicate fabrics like brocade and tapestry. It is one of the very few reversible fabrics and is easy to wash.

MAKING OF JACQUARD

Making of Jacquard

Initially, Jacquard weaving was done by a process called draw loom which was a slow process and produced limited patterns. Then came mechanical loom for producing Jacquard fabric. It was designed in such a way that the patterns could vary in every row of the fabric. Gradually larger machines were also introduced, but they also had certain shortcomings. These electronic machines were insanely expensive and were suitable only for factories that produce specialized designs. Now, the scenario has changed. Apart from the fabric that is made from jacquard loom, these fabrics can also be knitted and thus, a variety of jacquard fabrics are available today. All the ethnic jacquard we see around is Brocade jacquard. Other jacquard produced on machines can be finer and shimmery. This is because it is knitted with silk, rayon and other synthetic materials. Jacquard loom machines did reduce the repetitive weaving of fabric with symmetrical designs.
